On Tuesday, April 30th, Mr. Gerald Moore, Michigan District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be the keynote speaker at an event at the Wayne County Community College District Entrepreneurial department entitled:
What the SBA Can Do for You!
In his presentation, Gerald will talk about:
- SBA tools and resources that are available to help you with your business
- 7 Key things you need to do to find a niche and to become an Expert in Your Industry
- Access to Capital
- Contracting
- Counseling Services
- His personal experience as a Successful Entrepreneur
- How he was able to profit in Year 1
- Providing a value proposition that the market responds to – no matter who you are
As district director, Mr. Moore is responsible for the delivery of all SBA programs and services in the state, including the SBA guaranty loan program - delivered through more than 120 lenders; the government contracting and minority enterprise development programs; and oversight of the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center, SCORE, Women's Business Centers, and a Veterans Business Outreach Center. The Michigan District Office covers all 83 counties in the state.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Moore served in the United States Air Force where he completed three 24-month tours of duty. He spent the next two years with the U.S. Customs Service serving as an Import Specialist. After leaving the federal government in 1995, Mr. Moore began a career in the IT industry where he served as a Senior Program Manager responsible for implementing global programs and projects for Hewlett Packard and EDS.
In 2004, he launched his own profitable company, SportZ AllStarZ, LLC, that provided sports participation opportunities for youth. Mr. Moore holds a master's degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University.
